About this session

At Schiphol in Amsterdam, one of the busiest airports in the world, Schiphol Aviation Solutions’ Passenger Experience Platform (PXP) provides a modular, scalable system that enhances passenger journeys by delivering on-demand, personalized experiences, from navigation to real-time assistance. In this session, DevOps engineer and Grafana Champion Gerard van Engelen will share how PXP leverages Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Alloy, and Faro to enable real-time, data-driven insights into system performance and user interactions. These insights support passenger satisfaction, streamline operations, and reveal new commercial opportunities for airport hubs worldwide. In fact, PXP plays an important role in driving revenue: A 1% increase in satisfaction can lead to a 1.5% boost in non-aeronautical income. Gerard will dive into the technical details of the setup, focusing on implementing Kubernetes observability at scale and overcoming unique challenges inherent in multi-regional, high-availability configurations. With these insights, attendees can replicate or adapt Schiphol’s approach to enhance their own infrastructure.
