VAST Audit Dashboard
Dashboard for querying VAST audit records
Introduction
The VAST Data Platform unifies storage, database, and containerized compute into a single, scalable software platform to power AI & deep learning in modern data centers and clouds.
Protocol Auditing in 5.1 and later allow audit records to be written to a database on the cluster, allowing administrators to quickly view user data access and to assist with security reviews.
This dashboard uses a Trino data source with the VAST Connector for Trino to give visibility into files on the VAST cluster, including:
- Auditing entries over a specific time range, including the user, protocol, filename, and operation
- Breakdown of users and operations over the time range
- Amount of data read and written
- Optional filtering of the above by path prefix, user, or action
Compatibility
This dashboard supports VAST 5.1 and later.
Configuration
- Enable the Global Auditing on your cluster to log entries to the database
- Enable user access to the audit records
- Install & configure the VAST Connector for Trino
- Install the Trino plugin for Grafana
- Configure a Trino data source in Grafana
- Install the dashboard
