SPC Chart PRO

SPC Chart PRO is a statistical process control toolkit for Grafana. It extends the free SPC Chart panel with the chart types and out-of-control tests used in dedicated SPC software: attribute, time-weighted, and short-run charts, automatic run-rule detection, point exclusion, and staged control limits.

The result is a complete control-charting workflow on your existing dashboards: monitor process stability and detect special-cause variation on live data, without exporting it or leaving Grafana.

Control charts

22 chart types across four families, each selectable per panel.

Variables charts — for measured values

  • I-MR (XmR) — individual measurements
  • Xbar-R — small subgroups, using the range to estimate spread
  • Xbar-S — larger subgroups, using the standard deviation to estimate spread
  • I-MR-R/S (between/within) — subgrouped data with batch-to-batch variation, charting both sources of spread simultaneously

Attribute charts — for counts and pass/fail data

  • p and np — proportion or count of defective units
  • c and u — defect counts in a fixed or varying inspection area
  • Laney p′ and u′ — overdispersion-corrected limits for large subgroups, reducing false alarms on stable processes

Time-weighted charts — for small, sustained shifts a Shewhart chart may miss

  • CUSUM — cumulative sum, for early detection of sustained drift
  • EWMA — exponentially weighted moving average, for the same purpose

Short-run charts — for job-shop and small-batch production

  • DNOM — deviation from nominal, plotting multiple part numbers on one chart
  • Z-MR — standardized chart for parts with differing variation

Out-of-control detection

  • Run rules — the eight Nelson rules identify trends, shifts, and other non-random patterns, marking the affected points on the chart and coloring them by severity. Only the rules applicable to the selected chart type are offered.
  • Sigma zones — ±1σ and ±2σ lines delineate the A/B/C zones the run rules evaluate, making each violation traceable to the rule that produced it.

Control limit management

  • Point exclusion — right-click to exclude an assignable-cause point, such as a measurement error or isolated process upset, from limit and capability calculations while retaining it on the chart.
  • Staged control limits — split the chart at a process change, such as a material change, machine overhaul, or recalibration, and recompute the center line and limits for each stage. CUSUM and EWMA charts can additionally be locked to a historical mean and sigma from a baseline period.

Included from the free SPC Chart panel

Custom control lines, specification limits, process capability statistics (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk), the statistics table, CSV export, annotations, alerting, and numeric X-axis support.

Compatibility

SPC Chart PRO is built on Grafana's native visualization components. It follows light and dark themes, honors your panel and legend settings, and works with any Grafana data source, including SQL databases, Prometheus, InfluxDB, and CSV.

SPC Chart PRO is commercial, closed-source software. Use requires a valid commercial license.
