Azure Monitor offers Grafana dashboards natively for immediate, real-time operational monitoring
Editor’s note: This blog originally published in May 2025 when Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana became available in public preview. It was updated in November 2025 to reflect general availability.
The Grafanaverse just got a little bit bigger.
Today at its annual Ignite conference, Microsoft announced that Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana — a service that provides Azure users with Grafana dashboards natively integrated in the Azure Portal at no additional cost and with little administrative overhead required — is now generally available.

The Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana service — which was first announced in public preview in May — enables Azure users to create and edit Grafana dashboards directly in the Azure Portal.
Users can start monitoring their Azure ecosystem easily with prebuilt Grafana dashboards available by default for more than a dozen Azure services, such as Azure Monitor metrics, logs, traces, and alerts, as well as Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and more.
How Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana works
With Grafana dashboards, Azure users not only gain access to the leading open source dashboarding and visualization tool, but can also engage with the Grafana and wider open source communities.
The Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana service is compatible with Grafana OSS, so users can import any one of the thousands of Grafana dashboards for Prometheus, Azure Monitor, and Azure Data Explorer data sources that the open source community has created.
The Grafana dashboards created in the Azure Portal are also portable across any Grafana instance, regardless of where it is hosted. Teams can share and re-use dashboards in Azure Monitor dashboards with Grafana, Azure Managed Grafana, self-hosted Grafana, Grafana Cloud, and more.
What’s new: support for Grafana Explore, new prebuilt dashboards, and more
As part of general availability, there are several new features to help users explore their data more easily and gain even deeper insights into their Azure environments.
- Support for Grafana Explore: Add queries and visualizations to new or existing dashboards, and explore or modify dashboard panel queries without editing dashboards.
- Support for Azure Data Explorer: Visualize data from the fast, fully managed data analytics service for real-time and time-series analysis on large volumes of data streams.
- Additional Azure Kubernetes Service support: Monitor AKS Automatic and AKS Arc connected clusters.
- Additional prebuilt dashboards: Quickly visualize data in the new Azure Container App monitoring dashboards; Azure Monitor Application Insights dashboards with OpenTelemetry metrics; and High Performance Computing dashboards with dedicated GPU monitoring.

Microsoft Azure + Grafana
Over the years, Grafana has become the de facto standard for the visualization of all observability data, and this collaboration with Microsoft Azure represents a major milestone in that journey.
We look forward to being an essential part of the daily workflows of the 700,000+ organizations that use Azure worldwide, and welcoming more of our mutual users into the Grafana community.
