Shared values are foundational to culture. They empower us, as both individuals and teams, to have an impact and achieve our mission, because we’re aligned on what’s really important to us. We’ve established these guiding principles to drive independent thinking, thoughtful decision-making, and result-oriented action that stays true to our mission.
Grafanistas think long-term, prioritizing enduring value over short-term gains, and act today with tomorrow in mind. We will not sacrifice long-term success for immediate upside.
Grafanistas operate with integrity. We think about what it will take to appreciate and respect each other decades from now, and actively work to build that trust every single day.
Grafanistas are courageous. We address difficult issues directly and kindly, make tough decisions, have uncomfortable conversations, and drive necessary change, understanding the cost of avoidance.
Grafanistas iterate rapidly. We release early and often to learn and adapt. We value feedback, embrace experimentation, and understand our success comes through continuous refinement.
Our success is defined solely by the success of our customers. Grafanistas dismantle traditional organizational barriers to solve customer problems. Every role is customer-impacting because every decision impacts the value we deliver.
Grafanistas make stronger decisions by seeking out diverse perspectives. We recognize building Grafana Labs is our collective responsibility and work across boundaries to achieve it. We break down silos and optimize for overall success, not just one team.
Grafanistas dive deep. We stay connected to the details and are unafraid to get our hands dirty. We understand our domains thoroughly to ensure high standards are achieved.
We lift each other up and act with integrity. We actively support colleagues, share knowledge, and foster an environment where everyone can succeed. We uphold our values, especially under pressure, acting with intelligence and heart.
Grafanistas operate openly. We share information and context by default using public forums. When confidentiality is necessary, we explain why. Transparency builds trust and enables better outcomes.
Grafanistas focus on impact. We prioritize work that solves real problems and delivers meaningful results. We understand the "why" behind our effort and avoid activity for activity's sake.
Bureaucracy, unproductive resistance, stagnation, finger pointing, mediocrity, busywork, assholes, and staying on the sidelines.
Balance is key. Our team enjoys 30 days of paid vacation each year on top of national holidays, parental leave, and sick leave. We also take a breather on a number of Grafana Labs Shutdown Days each year.
We’re proud to provide health coverage or stipends for our colleagues in the U.S., U.K., Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore, Spain, Australia, and India.
There’s no time like the present to start saving for your future. We make employer contributions into the retirement accounts of our team members in the U.S., U.K., Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Spain, and Australia (additive to salary).
On top of a $1,500 annual learning and development stipend, Grafanistas have thousands of on-demand courses at their fingertips to help them grow professionally. Want to attend a conference or training? Go ahead. Just pass on what you learned.
A vast majority of our roles are fully remote, focused on hiring the best talent and allowing you to perform from the comfort of your home. If you fancy a change of scene, we’ll also reimburse you up to $175 a month for a personal co-working space.
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to the tech required to do your job. Choose the laptop and accessories you need when you join us, and we’ll refresh them every three years.
When you join the team, you can sign up for a complimentary subscription to Calm to take advantage of the benefits of mindfulness and meditation. Our wellbeing resource group also organizes sessions run by fellow Grafanistas or external trainers.

Each stage is designed to give you an opportunity to show how you think, work, and collaborate. While steps vary by role, most processes include:
Recruiter conversation: An initial discussion to align on your experience, the role, and your goals—with plenty of time for your questions.
Hiring manager & leadership interviews: Conversations focused on expectations, impact, and mutual fit with the people you’ll work with closely.
Practical challenge: A role-relevant exercise (e.g., coding task, presentation, or take-home assignment) that reflects real work at Grafana Labs—no trick questions.
Wayfinder interview (select roles): For senior and sales roles, an additional conversation with a cross-functional team member ensures high-quality, values-aligned hiring decisions.
Final interviews: A deeper dive into collaboration, decision-making, and your potential impact on the team.
We move efficiently, communicate clearly, and respect your time. Our goal is to make the experience as valuable for you as it is for us.
We’re building a company rooted in community, transparency, and meaningful impact—and we’re excited to meet people who want to help shape what’s next. Here is what you can do to prepare:
Do your research: Understand our products, mission, and open source roots—and how the role connects to our impact.
Be yourself: We’re interested in the real you. Share honest examples that show how you solve problems, collaborate, and grow.
Reflect on your experience: Prepare specific examples of achievements and challenges, including your approach and results.
Know what you want: Be ready to discuss what motivates you, how you want to grow, and what environment helps you thrive. Bring questions—it’s a two-way conversation.
Prepare for the format: Interviews may include conversations, technical or role-based exercises, and discussions about past work. Be ready to clearly explain your thinking.

“Our big audacious goal is to create the company which defines our careers. Our culture and the opportunity to build something extraordinary together should be the reason you decide to join and the reason you choose to stay.”
