Breaking down silos: Irdeto’s path to one observability platform

Company: Irdeto

Industry: Media and Gaming

Irdeto is a global cybersecurity company operating across video entertainment, video games, and smart mobility. With over 50 years of experience and a presence in 75 countries, the company supports more than 400 customers worldwide. Its engineering-heavy workforce powers critical services, including real-time content protection and anti-piracy systems with strict uptime requirements.

Challenge Irdeto struggled with fragmented monitoring across multiple teams, tools, and homegrown solutions, creating silos that limited collaboration and visibility. Rising observability costs, exceeding $1.3 million annually, combined with inconsistent tooling led to inefficiencies and a lack of centralized insight during incidents. Despite earlier efforts to adopt observability, low adoption and cultural misalignment prevented meaningful progress.

Solution Irdeto implemented a centralized observability strategy with Grafana Cloud, standardizing monitoring across teams and products. By combining Grafana Cloud with Kubernetes Monitoring, Grafana IRM, and Grafana Assistant, they created a unified platform for metrics, logs, and traces. The rollout was supported by strong leadership alignment, internal enablement programs, and Grafana professional services to drive adoption across the organization.

“Lastly though, it wouldn’t have been successful without Grafana’s professional services. I was quite impressed how they came in with us. They first took their time to learn what is Airdetto, how do our teams work, understand our culture, and then really help us bring us along with that migration.” -Andy Schaffer, Director of Cloud Operations

Impact

By unifying observability and aligning teams around a shared platform, Irdeto significantly improved operational efficiency, collaboration, and reliability across the business.

  • Reduced MTTR from 1 hour to 5 minutes, accelerating incident resolution
  • Eliminated siloed tools and achieved a single, centralized view of telemetry across teams
  • Increased adoption, onboarding 22 out of 30 products onto Grafana Cloud within one year
  • Improved operational consistency with standardized alerting, dashboards, and workflows
  • Enhanced developer and operator productivity with faster query building, triage, and dashboard creation using Grafana Assistant

" “We now able to have now one view of telemetry data company-wide.” -Andy Schaffer, Director of Cloud Operations

What’s Next?

Irdeto plans to expand its use of Grafana IRM for automated incident workflows and ITSM integration, while exploring machine learning-driven alerting for proactive detection. The team is also investing in Terraform-based observability as code to fully integrate monitoring into CI/CD pipelines.
