Improved control and clarity for annotations
We’ve introduced several improvements to annotations to make them easier to explore, navigate, and manage at scale.
Annotation clustering
Group adjacent point annotations into a single combined region with the Annotation clustering switch. Clustered annotations aggregate their contents into a single, scrollable tooltip, so you can explore dense annotation data without overwhelming the panel.
To try this feature, enable the annotationsClustering feature flag.
Annotation indicator controls
Control how annotations appear in your panels with the Hide lines and areas switch. With this feature, you can hide annotation indicator lines and shaded regions to reduce crowding in panels with a high number of annotations.
To try this feature, you must have the annotationsClustering feature flag enabled.
Multi-row annotations
Display each annotation query on its own row within a panel, so you can clearly distinguish between annotation sources with the Multi-row annotations switch. The multi-row option appears automatically when your dashboard includes more than one annotation query.
With this update, you can pin annotation tooltips with a click for easier interaction. We’ve also made annotation markers keyboard-accessible, so you can tab through many annotations without a mouse.
This feature is generally available.
