Now it’s time to organize your collector fleet with meaningful attributes. This path will walk you through categorizing your collectors step by step.

You’ll start with a quick context slide on why fleet categorization matters—attributes give you the foundation for remote configuration management and operational organization.

Then you’ll navigate to Fleet Management, select collectors, and assign three key attributes: team to identify ownership, service.name to identify which service a collector monitors, and env to identify the deployment environment. You’ll use the bulk edit tool to apply attributes across multiple collectors at once.

By the end, every collector in your fleet will answer three critical questions: who owns it, what service does it support, and where is it running.

Work through each milestone in order.
