Now that you know the prerequisites, it’s time to choose your path. You have three options depending on what you want to accomplish.
If you want to collect and store cloud data in Grafana Cloud, start with either metrics or logs. Most teams start with metrics because they’re easier to set up and give you immediate value for dashboards and alerting. Logs add context and are critical for troubleshooting and compliance. If you’re not sure, start with metrics.
If you don’t want to store data at all and just want to visualize what’s already in CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Cloud Monitoring, skip ahead to Module 3 on data source connections.
Of course, you can also just click Next and go through the entire course. Metrics, then logs, then data sources. That’s actually the most comprehensive approach if you have the time.
