Customize service dashboards

Add custom dashboard links to the Configure dashboards and view settings page to give your team quick access to service-specific monitoring dashboards. You can add multiple dashboards and select one as the default to appear in your quick links and as the service name link on the Services page.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you have Cloud Provider plugin Editor permissions (AWS Editor, Azure Editor, or GCP Editor)
  • Create or identify the custom dashboards you want to link in your Grafana stack

If you have added a service without a preconfigured dashboard, you can add a custom dashboard and make the service a link from the Services page.

To add a custom dashboard link to the Configure dashboards and view settings page:

  1. Navigate to the Configure dashboards and view settings page for your service:
    • In Grafana, go to Observability > Cloud provider > [Your provider] > Services
    • Click the Configure button next to the service name you want to configure
  2. In the Customize your quick links and add new ones to your custom dashboards section, click the Select a dashboard dropdown.
  3. Choose a dashboard from your Grafana stack.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Save.

The dashboard appears in the list below with its name and link path and if it is set to the default it is now the dashboard that is linked to the service name on the Services page.

Set a default custom dashboard

The default custom dashboard appears in the quick links at the top of the page and it becomes the link the service is linked to on the Services page, making it more accessible to all users.

To set the default dashboard for a cloud provider service:

  1. In the custom dashboards list, find the dashboard you want to set as default.
  2. Click the Set as default button next to that dashboard.
  3. Click Save.

The default dashboard is indicated by a selected radio button in the DEFAULT column.

To delete a custom dashboard from the Configure dashboards and views page:

  1. In the custom dashboards list, find the dashboard you want to remove.
  2. Click the delete icon (trash can) on the right side of the row.
  3. Click Save.

The dashboard link is removed from the page. This action does not delete the actual dashboard from your Grafana stack.

Custom dashboard limitations

  • You can only add dashboards from your current Grafana stack
  • Only one custom dashboard can be set as the default at a time
  • Custom dashboard links are shared across your organization
