Troubleshoot issues with the Databricks data source

This document outlines common errors you may encounter when using the Databricks data source. To help prevent some of these issues and ensure access to the latest features and fixes, Grafana recommends keeping your Databricks plugin up to date. Previous plugin versions may have had bugs or are missing features.

Errors and error messages

Following are some common error messages when connecting the Databricks data source:

  • 400 error - Session handle is invalid or closed. This typically occurs when a query takes too long or the warehouse goes idle. Try increasing the timeout setting or restarting your SQL warehouse.

  • 403 error - These errors relate to incorrect permissions.

  • 500 error - Generic error related to querying a Unity catalog table with a float column.

Connectivity issues

When configuring the Databricks data source, ensure that you supply correct hostname, HTTP path, and authentication credentials (token, client ID/secret, etc.). Incorrectly configuring any of these leads to connectivity failures.
