Create an email contact point
In this milestone, you’ll create an email contact point to ensure alerts are routed to the correct destination. The alert rule wizard assume you have a contact point defined, so this is a necessary prerequisite to the alert rule creation process—you’ll use this in milestone 9.
To create an email contact point, complete the following steps:
Sign in to your Grafana Cloud environment.
Navigate to Alerting > Contact points in the Grafana Cloud navigation menu.
Click Add contact point.
Configure the contact point settings:
- Enter a name for the contact point, for example
learning-journey-notifications
. - Select Email as the notification type.
- Enter your email address where alerts should be sent.
- Enter a name for the contact point, for example
Test the contact point to verify it works correctly:
- Click Test to send a test notification.
- Confirm the test email is received in your inbox.
Save the contact point.
