Add notification settings and contact points

In this milestone, you’ll configure how alerts are delivered to your team through notification policies and contact points. This ensures that the right people receive alerts through their preferred communication channels when issues occur.

Effective notification configuration routes alerts based on severity, team responsibility, and escalation policies, helping you respond quickly to incidents while avoiding alert fatigue.

To configure notification settings and contact points, complete the following steps:

  1. In Contact Point field of the the Configure notifications section, select the contact point you created in the third milestone of this learning journey from the dropdown list.

  2. In the Configure notification message section, enter a summary of the alert context in the Summary and fill out the Description field (optional) for the notifications that are sent out in relation to this policy.

    For example, enters “CPU usage is high.” into the Summary field, “Evaluates CPU utilization” for the Description field, and (optionally) enter your Runbook URL if you have one.
