Use Grafana Assistant to explore telemetry

Grafana Assistant is a paid feature that lets you explore telemetry data using natural language. Ask questions in plain English and get visualizations and insights without learning query syntax. Grafana Assistant works with metrics, logs, traces, and profiles.

Use Grafana Assistant to get quick answers from your telemetry data without writing queries.

How Grafana Assistant works

You ask questions in natural language. Grafana Assistant interprets your question, explores your data, and returns visualizations and insights based on your telemetry. Grafana Assistant can generate queries in query languages like PromQL for metrics, LogQL for logs, TraceQL for traces, or SQL for profiles and other data sources, that you can then edit in Explore or dashboard panels.

When Grafana Assistant navigates you to Explore or Drilldown apps with pre-built queries, you can modify the query directly in the query editor or ask Assistant to do it for you.

When to use Grafana Assistant

Use Grafana Assistant to:

  • Explore data without learning query syntax.
  • Use prompts like “Show errors in the last hour”, “What services have high latency?”, or “Find traces with errors”.
