Visualization tools offer point-and-click exploration and work best for users who are new to observability. Query languages give experienced uses precise control and fine-grained filtering and analysis capabilities.

The Grafana Drilldown apps and Grafana Assistant let you explore your telemetry without writing queries. The Drilldown apps provide dedicated interfaces for metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with visual controls for filtering and analysis.
Grafana Assistant is a paid feature that lets you ask questions using natural language. Refer to Understand Grafana Assistant pricing and usage for more information.

Query your data with Grafana Explore
When you need more control than the Drilldown apps provide, switch to Grafana Explore to write PromQL, LogQL, or TraceQL for precise filtering, aggregation, and transformation. You can also create dashboards from your queries. in some cases, the Drilldown app can transfer your investigation into an equivalent query in Explore."
