Configure Kubernetes Monitoring

You have many options for configuration, depending on your circumstances and the technologies you prefer.

Note

Kubernetes Monitoring is available only in Grafana Cloud, and only supports data sources hosted in Grafana Cloud.

Configure with Grafana Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart

To send infrastructure data to Grafana Cloud, it is easiest to configure with the Grafana Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart, which deploys Grafana Alloy. With this method, you can send metrics, logs, events, traces, and cost metrics.

Note

Configuration with Grafana Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart is recommended.

You can deploy the Kubernetes Monitoring Helm chart on the following platforms:

Collect data from applications

To collect data from applications on your Cluster, you can use any of these methods:

  • Select the option during configuration to include Application Observability.
  • Add an integration compatible with Kubernetes Monitoring to gather Prometheus metrics. To view the available integrations, navigate to the Configuration page, and click the Integrations tab.
  • In cases where an integration is not available for your program, refer to Scraping application metrics.

Upgrade from Grafana Agent or Agent Operator

Note

Both Grafana Agent and Grafana Agent Operator are EOL on November 1, 2025.
