Grafana Labs Establishes Japan Subsidiary to Accelerate Local Market Expansion
TOKYO – November 12, 2025 – Grafana Labs, the company behind the open observability cloud, today announced the establishment of Grafana Labs Japan, its new subsidiary in Tokyo. With this investment, the company strengthens its ability to deliver localized support, foster closer collaboration with Japanese enterprises and partners, and accelerate digital transformation initiatives across the region.
With more than 25 million users and 7,000 customers worldwide, Grafana Labs is a global leader in open and composable observability. Japan represents a new opportunity for the company to provide its modern observability solutions as organizations within the country embrace cloud-native architectures, generative AI, and digital-first strategies. Grafana Labs has already seen strong momentum in Japan with a growing community of open source contributors and a sold-out ObservabilityCON on the Road Tokyo event earlier this year. Organizations such as JAXA, which leveraged Grafana in support of its successful lunar landing mission, DENSO, which visualizes data across 130 factories worldwide, and GREE, which migrated from open source Grafana to the fully-managed Grafana Cloud platform, are already using Grafana to drive innovation and operational excellence. The launch of Grafana Labs Japan underscores the company’s long-term commitment to the market, with plans to expand local hiring, strengthen its partner ecosystem, and deliver observability solutions tailored to Japanese enterprises. In early 2026, Grafana also plans to open its first Executive Briefing Center in Tokyo.
“At Grafana Labs, open is not just our strategy; it’s our differentiator. With our open and flexible observability platform, we help organizations see and understand anything from anywhere – turning signals into smarter, faster action. We are excited to extend this vision to more organizations in Japan," said Raj Dutt, CEO and Co-founder of Grafana Labs. “Japan has always been an intriguing market for us. Over the years, we’ve seen strong interest but also knew that success here requires a thoughtful, long-term commitment. After building strong foundations in Singapore and Australia, we’re now entering Japan and are more bullish than ever on the opportunity.”
“Japanese enterprises have been through a decade of digital transformation and now AI transformation, resulting in new dependencies on software with ever-increasing complexity. This has created new demands for trusted, scalable observability across the digital infrastructure landscape,” said Andy Schwabecher, Country Manager, Grafana Labs. Our goal is to empower customers and partners to innovate with confidence, act on data faster, and build resilient software-driven businesses that will define the future. This is a holistic, long‑term investment—capital, people, and programs. We’re investing in people — talented engineers, sales, and marketing professionals, and post-sales, to deliver faster time‑to‑value for customers in Japan and a platform you can bet on.
The company’s open source innovation, vendor-neutral approach, and flexible observability stack set it apart in the market. Grafana Cloud, its fully managed solution, enables enterprises to monitor, visualize, and analyze data from any source, helping break down silos, optimize system performance, and accelerate decision-making. Grafana Labs Japan will also work closely with leading system integrators and distributors to deliver best-in-class observability solutions across industries.
Early customers and partners have expressed enthusiasm for the company’s local expansion.
