Verify data collection

In this milestone, you’ll verify that Cloud Provider Observability is successfully collecting metrics from your Azure resources and sending them to Grafana Cloud. Confirming data collection ensures your monitoring setup is working correctly before you begin exploring dashboards and creating alerts.

To verify data collection, complete the following steps:

1. In Grafana Cloud, click Observability > Cloud provider > Azure in the main menu.

2. Click the Services tab.

   The Services tab displays all Azure services that Cloud Provider Observability has discovered in your subscriptions.

3. Locate the Azure service you want to verify in the list.

   Use the Service or Source filters to find specific services if you have many resources.

   For example, filter by Microsoft.Compute/virtualMachines to view your Virtual Machines.

4. Check the Status column for the service.

   A status of Sending data indicates that metrics are being successfully collected and sent to Grafana Cloud.

5. To verify metrics are flowing, click the service name to view its dashboard.

   The dashboard displays recent metric data collected from the service.

6. Verify that the dashboard panels display data and that the time series graphs show recent metric values.

Data is successfully flowing from your Azure account to Grafana Cloud.
