Select your platform for Grafana Alloy

In this milestone, you select the platform and architecture for installing Grafana Alloy. Grafana Alloy runs on various platforms and architectures to accommodate different infrastructure setups.

The platform selection determines the installation method and configuration approach for collecting MongoDB metrics and sending them to Grafana Cloud.

To select your platform for Grafana Alloy, complete the following steps:

  1. Sign in to your Grafana Cloud environment, for example mystack.grafana.net.

  2. On the Grafana Cloud home page, open the navigation menu on the left side of the screen and click Connections > Add new connection.

  3. Search for MongoDB and click the tile to open the integration setup page.

  4. Select your operating system and architecture.

Grafana Alloy supports the following platforms:

    • Linux (x86_64, ARM64)
    • macOS (x86_64, ARM64)
    • Windows (x86_64)
    • Docker containers
    • Kubernetes deployments
  5. Select the architecture.

  6. If you are unsure of the architecture, perform the following steps:

    1. On the Linux machine, open the Terminal.

    2. Run the following command:

      uname -m

If this command returns x86_64, then select Amd64. If the command returns aarch64, then select Arm64. If the command returns anything else, your system isn’t supported by Grafana Alloy; you need to use a 64-bit x86 or ARM system.

  7. If you are installing Grafana Alloy on MacOS, select an installation method that best fits your infrastructure:

    • Homebrew for direct system deployment
    • Binary download for custom installations

In your next milestone, you’ll install Grafana Alloy on your selected platform.
