Add a Linear MCP server
Connect Linear to Assistant to search and manage issues and projects during incident investigations. This helps you connect observability findings from metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with tracked issues, project status, and team workflows.

Before you begin
Ensure you have the necessary requirements before configuring Linear integration.
- Linear API token: Obtain a Linear API token from your Linear account settings.
- Permissions: Refer to Manage Assistant access with RBAC - Understand available roles for the roles and permissions required to add personal or tenant MCP servers.
- Feature access: Your administrator must enable the integrations feature in the Assistant app configuration.
Configure the server
Add Linear integration using the pre-configured preset for quick setup with optimized tools for issue tracking and project management.
The Linear preset includes:
- Search and retrieval tools: For issues and project data.
- Project management tools: For accessing project and team information.
- Status tracking tools: For checking issue status, priority, assignees, and relationships.
To configure a Linear MCP server:
- Open the Assistant Settings and click Integrations.
- Under MCP Servers, locate the Quick Setup options and click Add for the Linear preset.
- Enter a Name to identify the server.
- Choose a Scope:
- Personal (user): Visible only to you.
- Tenant (everybody): Visible to your organization.
- Confirm the MCP Server URL is set to
https://mcp.linear.app/mcp. - Click Save to validate connectivity and discover available tools.
Manage MCP server
After configuration, you can filter tools and manage the server lifecycle.
