Configure dataset for Azure

Configure how the knowledge graph processes Azure metrics from Cloud Provider Observability. This configuration determines which Azure subscriptions and regions to monitor and how to filter the data.

For background on dataset configurations, environment labels, and cloud region labels, refer to Manage dataset configurations.

Complete the following steps to edit a dataset configuration for Azure:

1. Sign into Grafana Cloud and click Observability > Configuration.

2. Click Connect knowledge graph.

3. Next to Azure, click Edit.

4. Complete the following fields:

   Expand table

   Field	Description
   Environment label	Select the source environment you want to monitor with the knowledge graph. We recommend setting this to subscriptionName.
   Environments	Deselect the environments you want to exclude from the knowledge graph.
   Cloud region label	Optional. If you have selected a different environment label, choose region as the cloud region label. You can select a different site label, as required.
   Cloud regions	Deselect the regions you want to exclude from the knowledge graph.

5. If you want to add additional filters, complete the following steps:

   1. Click + Add filter.

   2. Populate the fields with filter values and an operator.

      You can add multiple filters.

      You must use a label that exists in the all the required metrics. Refer to Troubleshooting for a list of metrics.

6. To specify which frameworks to include in your dataset, toggle the Advanced options switch and select or deselect one or more software development frameworks.

   Azure-specific frameworks that may be detected include:

   • Azure Virtual Machine - Azure Virtual Machines metrics
   • Azure Flexible Server - Azure Flexible Server for Postgres and MySQL metrics
   • Azure Blob Storage - Azure object storage metrics for Storage Accounts / Blob services

   By default, the knowledge graph detects new frameworks. You can exclude them from your datasets.

7. Optionally, add more environments.

8. Click Save Azure settings.
