Manage usage and cost alerts
Manage your usage alerts to ensure they remain effective as your usage patterns and business requirements change. View alert details, modify settings, and remove alerts that you no longer need.
After you create an alert, view and manage it from the Usage Alerts list view.
Before you begin
To view alerts, you must have the permissions granted by the Usage alerts reader role.
View alert details
Review the configuration and settings of existing alerts to understand their current monitoring parameters.
Note
The Cost Management and Billing App will be available either in the top level navigation of your Grafana instance, or under More apps.
To view alert details, complete the following steps:
- Sign in to your Grafana Cloud instance.
- Navigate to Cost Management and Billing.
- Click Usage Alerts tab in the top navigation menu.
- Click an alert from the list to see its details, including the product, threshold, and contact point.
The alert details view displays the complete configuration, including monitoring thresholds, notification settings, and current status.
Before you begin
To edit or delete alerts, you must have the permissions granted by the Usage alerts admin role.
Edit an alert
Modify existing alerts to adjust thresholds, change notification settings, and enable or pause the alert.
To edit an alert, complete the following steps:
- From the Usage Alerts list view, click the alert you want to modify.
- In the alert details view, change the alert settings as needed:
- Update threshold values to adjust trigger points
- Modify contact points for notifications
- Enable or pause the alert
- Click Save alert to apply your changes.
Your modified alert takes effect immediately with the new settings.
Delete an alert
Remove alerts that you no longer need to keep your alert list organized and relevant.
To delete an alert, complete the following steps:
In the Usage Alerts list view, locate the alert you want to remove.
Click the menu icon next to the alert you want to delete.
Click Delete in the pop-up menu.
Click Delete in the new window to confirm the removal.
Caution
Deleting an alert permanently removes its configuration and history. You can’t undo this action.
Regular management of your usage alerts ensures they provide effective monitoring without generating unnecessary notifications as your usage patterns evolve.
