Monitor usage
Use the Usage tab in the Cost Management and Billing app to view detailed insights into your Grafana Cloud resource consumption and associated costs. Understanding your usage patterns helps you optimize resources and manage costs effectively.
View a comprehensive breakdown of your Grafana Cloud consumption across all billable products. For each product, you can view current usage metrics, historical trends, and cost information.
Grafana Cloud products
View metrics for the following Grafana Cloud products in the Usage tab:
- Application Observability: View application performance monitoring usage, measured in host hours.
- Billable users: View the number of users who access Grafana Cloud, measured in monthly active users.
- Enterprise plugins: View usage of premium plugins available in Grafana Enterprise.
- Frontend observability: View usage for real user monitoring data, measured in ingested sessions.
- Graphite: View Graphite metrics ingestion usage, measured in active series and DPM.
- IRM: View incident response management usage, measured in monthly active users.
- K6: View usage metrics for load testing with k6 Cloud, measured in virtual user hours.
- Kubernetes containers: View container monitoring usage, measured in monitored containers.
- Kubernetes hosts: View Kubernetes node monitoring usage, measured in host hours and container hours.
- Logs: View your log volume ingestion, measured in GB.
- Logs retention: View extended log storage usage beyond standard retention periods, measured in GB.
- Metrics: View your Prometheus metrics usage, measured in active series and DPM.
- Profiles: View your continuous profiling data usage, measured in ingested GB.
- Synthetic Monitoring: View your synthetic monitoring usage, measured in type and number of test executions.
- Traces: View your distributed tracing data usage, measured in ingested GB.
Understand the Usage interface
The Usage tab presents your consumption data in multiple formats:
- Current period usage: View your consumption in the current billing period.
- Historical trends: View usage patterns over time to identify trends.
- Comparisons: View usage compared to included limits or previous periods.
- Cost breakdown: View the cost associated with each product’s usage.
