Create exemptions

Prevent certain logs from being dropped even if they are not being queried heavily.

For more information on exemptions, refer to Fundamentals.

The Exemptions page has two tabs:

  • Stream selector: Manage stream-selector-based exemptions that prevent matching logs from being dropped.
  • Lock: View patterns with locked drop rates, set from the Patterns page.

Create a stream selector exemption

To create a new exemption, complete the following steps.

  1. In the Adaptive Logs interface, navigate to the Exemptions page.

  2. Select the Stream selector tab.

  3. Click Add new exemption.

  4. In the Add exemption window, enter a valid stream selector.

Optionally provide business context in the Reason field.

  5. Click Save.

You can remove or update exemptions at any time.

It may take up to fifteen days for an exempted pattern to disappear from the Adaptive Logs user interface, but any attempts to apply recommendations to an exempted pattern has no effect and logs matching an exempted pattern are not dropped.

Manage exemptions

On the Stream selector tab, you can:

  • Edit an exemption by clicking the edit icon in the Actions column.
  • Delete a single exemption by clicking the delete icon in the Actions column.
  • Remove all exemptions by clicking the Remove all exemptions button.
  • Download exemptions as a JSON file by clicking the download button.

Expand a row to view the stream selector labels and exemption details, including when it was created, updated, and whether it has an expiration time.

View locked patterns

Select the Lock tab to view patterns that have a locked drop rate. Locked patterns are set from the Patterns page and prevent recommendations from being applied to those patterns.

On the Lock tab, you can:

  • View the locked pattern text. Expand a row to see the full pattern with token explanations.
  • Unlock a pattern by clicking the unlock icon, which allows recommendations to be applied again.
