Historical Cardinality
Analyze metrics cardinality history directly in the Cost Management and Billing App
We’re excited to announce the general availability of Historical Cardinality!
When active series counts increase, it can be difficult to determine what changed and which metrics or labels are responsible. Historical Cardinality helps you investigate cardinality growth over time, identify the source of cardinality spikes, and uncover opportunities to reduce observability costs
Key features include:
- 30 days of cardinality history: Track how metric and label cardinality changes over time and identify when growth occurs in the Cardinality Tab
- High cardinality metric and label insights: Quickly identify the metrics and labels contributing most to active series counts
- New and unused detection: Find recently introduced metrics and labels, as well as high cardinality metrics that are not being used
- Metric level investigations: Drill into individual metrics to view cardinality trends, label breakdowns, query activity, and the dashboards and rules that reference the metric

Note: Some users may see less than 30 days of history until July
