Monitor Aurora clusters in Cloud Provider Observability

You can now monitor Amazon Aurora clusters directly in the AWS RDS preconfigured dashboard in Cloud Provider Observability. The new Aurora tab gives you a cluster-level view of capacity, storage, and performance so you can spot scaling issues and database bottlenecks without piecing together metrics from individual instances.

Use the Aurora tab to:

  • Compare clusters at a glance: The Cluster overview table shows capacity, storage use, and read/write I/O for every Aurora cluster in scope, so you can quickly spot clusters that are over-provisioned, growing fast, or under heavy load without opening each instance separately.
  • Right-size capacity and catch scaling pressure: Capacity and ACU utilization panels show whether a cluster has enough headroom or is running hot, helping you tune scaling before performance degrades or costs climb.
  • Find performance and stability issues early: Connection counts, deadlocks, buffer cache hit ratio, and commit latency reveal saturation, lock contention, cache misses, and slow writes—common signs that a cluster needs tuning or investigation.
  • Investigate one cluster in depth: Click a cluster name to open a drilldown scoped to that cluster, with volume, I/O, capacity, and performance panels that help you isolate the root cause without losing account, region, or job context.
