Zabbix data source

The Zabbix data source connects Grafana to your Zabbix monitoring infrastructure. You can query metrics, display problems and triggers, monitor IT service SLA data, create annotations from Zabbix events, and build interactive dashboards with template variables. The plugin also supports querying historical data directly from the Zabbix database for improved performance on large time ranges.

Requirements

Grafana 11.6.0 or later.
The Zabbix plugin installed and enabled in your Grafana instance. Zabbix is an app plugin, so after you install it you must also enable it on the plugin page before the data source becomes available. Refer to Install the plugin for installation and upgrade instructions, or to Install and enable the Zabbix plugin for step-by-step instructions.
A running Zabbix server with API access enabled.
A Zabbix user account with read permissions for the host groups and hosts you want to query.

Install the plugin

Install the plugin by using one of the following methods:

In Grafana, go to Administration > Plugins and data > Plugins, search for Zabbix, and click Install.
Use the Grafana CLI:

Note: In Grafana versions that ship the standalone grafana-cli binary, run grafana-cli plugins install alexanderzobnin-zabbix-app instead. The standalone binary is deprecated in favor of the grafana cli subcommand.

Restart Grafana after you install the plugin.

Upgrade the plugin

Upgrade the plugin to the latest version by using one of the following methods:

In Grafana, go to Administration > Plugins and data > Plugins, select Zabbix, and click Update if a newer version is available.

Use the Grafana CLI:

grafana cli plugins update alexanderzobnin-zabbix-app

Restart Grafana after you upgrade the plugin.

Grafana Assistant

Grafana Assistant is an AI-powered observability agent that works with your Zabbix data using natural language prompts. After you configure the data source, you can ask the Assistant to:

Discover resources by listing host groups, hosts, and items across your Zabbix infrastructure.
Inspect problems by retrieving active problems and filtering them by severity.
Build dashboards by querying metrics and generating ready-to-use time series panels from your prompts.

Pre-built dashboards

The plugin includes three pre-built dashboards that you can import from the data source configuration page:

Zabbix System Status: Overview of active problems and system health.
Zabbix Template Linux Server: Linux server monitoring with CPU, memory, disk, and network metrics.
Zabbix Server Dashboard: Zabbix server performance and internal metrics.

To import a dashboard, navigate to Connections > Data sources, select your Zabbix data source, and click the Dashboards tab.

Plugin updates

Always ensure that your plugin version is up-to-date so you have access to all current features and improvements. Navigate to Administration > Plugins and data > Plugins to check for updates.
