Explore Alloy in Connections

In this milestone, you open Grafana Cloud Connections and explore Collector Setup, where you install Grafana Alloy and choose how it runs.

Collector Setup is the Cloud UI entry point for deploying Alloy. From here, integrations and send-data workflows reuse Alloy to collect telemetry and forward it to your stack.

To explore Collector Setup:

  1. Navigate to Connections > Collector Setup.

  2. Select the Alloy collector type.

    The Alloy option is the default path most beginners use. It installs the Alloy collector and uses Alloy configuration syntax for your pipelines.

  3. Review the OpenTelemetry collector type.

    The OpenTelemetry option is for teams that want standard OpenTelemetry Collector-style configuration. For this introduction, stay with Alloy.

  4. You found Alloy install options in Collector Setup and compared the Alloy and OpenTelemetry collector types.
