Monitor IIS web servers in Grafana Cloud

Welcome to the Grafana learning path that shows you how to monitor Microsoft IIS web servers using Grafana Cloud.

IIS (Internet Information Services) is one of the most widely deployed web servers in enterprise environments. This path walks you through setting up the IIS integration, which collects request metrics, worker process telemetry, and application pool health data from your IIS servers and sends it to Grafana Cloud for visualization and alerting.

Here’s what to expect

When you complete this path, you’ll be able to:

  • Describe the value of monitoring IIS web servers with Grafana Cloud
  • Install and configure Grafana Alloy to collect IIS metrics
  • Enable IIS performance counters for detailed telemetry
  • Use pre-built dashboards to visualize request rates, error rates, and worker process health
  • Use pre-built alerts to detect common IIS issues

Before you begin

Before you set up the IIS integration, ensure you have:

  • A Windows Server with the IIS role installed and running.
  • Administrator privileges on the Windows Server.
  • Configured your firewall to allow outbound HTTPS (port 443) to *.grafana.net.

Troubleshooting
