Learn how to install and add the Google Sheets data source in your Grafana Cloud instance.

Install and add the Google Sheets data source

The Google Sheets data source is not installed by default. In this milestone, you search for the data source in the plugin catalog and install it in your Grafana Cloud instance.

The Google Sheets data source is available in the Grafana plugin catalog and can be installed directly from the Grafana Cloud interface. Once installed, it provides the components needed to connect to the Google Sheets API and read your spreadsheet data.

To install the Google Sheets data source, complete the following steps:

  1. Open Administration > Plugins and data > Plugins.

  2. In the Search field, enter Google Sheets to filter the available plugins.

  3. Locate the Google Sheets data source plugin and click it to view the plugin details.

  4. Click Install to add the Google Sheets data source to your Grafana Cloud instance.

    Wait for the installation to complete. The status changes from “Installing” to “Installed”.

  5. Open Connections > Data sources.

  6. Click Add new data source in the upper right of the page.

  7. In the search field, enter Google Sheets to filter the available data source types.

  8. Click Google Sheets to select the data source and begin configuration.

The Google Sheets data source is now installed and added to your Grafana Cloud instance. In the next milestone, you’ll create a Google API key so the data source can read your spreadsheet.
