Choose Learn mode
The mode menu switches how the chat behaves. Choose on purpose:
- Assistant: Do work. Ask for queries, resources, or changes and move quickly.
- Learn: Get step-by-step coaching. In Learn mode, each step waits for your confirmation before creating or changing anything.
Learn mode can show suggested lessons based on your role, the products you care about, and services in your environment. In this milestone you open Learn, optionally start a short lesson, then switch back. Completing a full lesson is optional.
To find Learn mode, complete the following steps:
Open Assistant from the top toolbar (sparkle icon) if the panel is closed.
At the bottom of the Assistant chat, click the mode button (it shows the current mode name, for example Assistant).
In the dropdown, select Learn. The mode button label should change to Learn.
Optionally paste or type a goal so Learn mode can show a suggested lesson:
I’m new to Grafana. Show me a short lesson on finding dashboards.
Or:
I’m an SRE. Teach me how to use metrics, logs, and traces to look into latency for a service in my stack.
Skip this step if you only wanted to find where Learn mode lives.
Click Send if you entered a goal.
If lesson suggestions appear, pick one and take a single step.
Notice that in Learn mode, the chat waits for confirmation before creating or changing anything. Stay in Learn when you want that coaching style. Switch back to Assistant when you want to work through prompts yourself. You don’t need to finish the whole lesson for this path.
When you are done exploring, click the mode button again (it should say Learn).
In the dropdown, select Assistant (or another mode you use). Return to Learn when you want guided lessons; stay in Assistant for day-to-day prompts.
