Configure team as an attribution label
In this milestone, you configure team as an attribution label in Cost Management and Billing. Grafana Cloud then attributes the cost of your metrics to each team.
Keep the following in mind as you configure the label:
- Attribution is configured for each stack. Repeat the steps for every stack you want to report on.
- Attribution starts when you save the label. Grafana Cloud doesn’t attribute earlier usage.
- You can configure up to 2 labels, and their combined cardinality can’t exceed 1,000 unique combinations.
- If you already have a primary label,
teambecomes your secondary label. - Telemetry without the
teamlabel is classified as unattributed.
To configure the attribution label, complete the following steps:
Go to Cost Management and Billing.
Click the Settings tab.
Under Telemetry attribution, click Configure an attribution label. If you already have an attribution label, click Select another attribution label instead.
In the panel that opens:
- In Select Metrics Key, select
team. Grafana Cloud suggests matching keys for logs and traces. - Review the suggested logs and traces keys, and the Label Name. The label name is a display name in Cost Management and Billing reports. It’s not a label on your telemetry.
- Click the save button at the bottom of the panel. For your first label, the button reads Save Primary Label.
- In Select Metrics Key, select
Confirm that
teamis listed under Telemetry attribution as your primary or secondary label.
You configured team as an attribution label. Attribution reports can take up to 24 hours to appear after you save the label.
In the next milestone, you review cost by team.
