# Set evaluation behavior

Evaluation behavior sets how often Grafana runs your query, how long a problem must last before the alert fires, and how long the alert keeps firing after the condition resolves.

In this milestone, create an evaluation group, then set the pending period and keep firing for.

1. In the **Set evaluation behavior** section, click **New evaluation group** to open the dialog.
2. Give the group a name, such as **Alerts group**, set the **Evaluation interval** to **1m**, then click **Create**.
3. In the **Pending period** field, enter **1m**. Brief spikes get filtered out, but a real problem fires quickly.
4. In the **Keep firing for** field, leave **None**. This is how long the alert keeps firing after the condition resolves.

Your evaluation schedule is set. Next, you confirm no-data and error handling.
