# Open the New alert rule page

A clear, descriptive name is the first thing responders see when an alert fires. A good name tells them immediately what’s wrong without opening the alert details.

In this milestone, you’ll open the **New alert rule** page and name your rule.

1. In the main menu, click **Alerting > Alert rules**.
2. Click **+ New alert rule**.
3. In the **Name** field, enter `QuickPizza high error rate`.

Your rule has a clear name. Next, you write the query in Code mode.
