How Graphite metrics reach the hosted Graphite backend

Grafana Cloud includes a hosted Graphite backend and a pre-provisioned Graphite data source that queries it. Graphite metrics you send are stored there. They are not stored in Grafana Cloud Metrics.

carbon-relay-ng and the Graphite HTTP API send metrics to hosted Graphite

How Graphite metrics are sent

  • carbon-relay-ng accepts plain-text carbon input and sends it to the hosted Graphite endpoint.
  • You can also send to the hosted Graphite HTTP API directly.
  • Your stack’s pre-provisioned Graphite data source queries the metrics after they arrive.
