# MongoDB integration

The MongoDB integration provides **database monitoring** for MongoDB deployments, from simple standalone instances to complex sharded clusters. Connection tracking matters here because connection exhaustion is a common MongoDB failure mode.

|--------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| **What it’s for** | Monitoring operations, connections, replication, and sharding health |
| **Under the hood** | Uses the MongoDB exporter (`prometheus.exporter.mongodb`) and scrapes it |

## Metrics collected

The integration collects metrics across operations, connections, replication, and sharding:

- **Operations**: Queries, inserts, updates, deletes
- **Connections**: Current, available, usage
- **Replication**: Oplog window, member state
- **Sharding**: Chunk distribution, balancer

## What to know

This integration offers:

- Prebuilt dashboards: MongoDB cluster, MongoDB instance, MongoDB overview, MongoDB replica set
- Prebuilt alerts: replication lag, connections
- Replica set and sharding visibility
- Oplog window monitoring for disaster recovery
