Manage dashboards

Find, create, and edit dashboards

Assistant can find dashboards by meaning (not just exact names), create panels from a plain-language goal, and help you edit what you already have, for example:

Find dashboards related to payment processing latency.

Create a dashboard called ‘Checkout Health’ with panels for error rate, p95 latency, and request volume.

When you edit, open the dashboard or select the panels you want to change so Assistant has the right context.

For panel-menu actions, variables, and more examples, refer to Manage dashboards.

Script

The Assistant can help you find, understand, create, and edit Grafana dashboards. If you’re exploring a new environment, ask it to find dashboards by service or team name and explain what they show. If you need to build something new, describe the goal and the metrics you want to include, and the Assistant generates the panels, validates that data is returned, and reports any configuration errors.

When editing an existing dashboard, context is important. Open the dashboard in your browser or select the panels you want to change. You can also open a dashboard panel menu and use the Assistant actions available there: explain the panel, troubleshoot it, analyze the data, or ask for suggestions to improve it.

You can also make dashboards more dynamic by asking the Assistant to add template variables, or ask it to reorganize panels to improve the layout.
