Hands-on steps need a Grafana Cloud account; a browser is enough for Grafana Play

Estimated time: 1 min

## What you need

Hands-on steps in your own account need a **Grafana Cloud account**: [sign up free](/signup/cloud/connect-account) if you don’t have one.

## Grafana Play

Later in the journey, you’ll have chances to work with **Grafana Play**, a public Grafana site you can click around without installing anything.

- A browser is enough
- Play doesn’t touch your account or your systems
