IRM pricing

Grafana Cloud Incident Response & Management (IRM) bills on monthly active IRM users. You aren’t billed for the volume of alerts, pages, or incidents you handle, so your cost is driven by how many people are configured to respond.

For current rates, refer to the pricing page.

How IRM is billed

IRM bills one charge: the number of unique active IRM users in a calendar month. Users are counted once per month regardless of how much they do.

Definitions

Active IRM user: A user who meets any of these criteria during the calendar month:

  • Is included in an OnCall schedule or escalation chain
  • Changes the status of an alert group or OnCall configuration
  • Receives a page or pages another user
  • Creates, edits, or updates an incident

How usage is calculated

Monthly active user counts reset to zero at the start of each calendar month. A user who becomes active on the first day and never returns is billed the same as one who responds daily.

Special considerations

Configuration alone makes a user billable

Being listed in a schedule or escalation chain makes a user active for the month even if they never respond to an alert. This is the most common source of unexpected IRM cost.

Review schedules and escalation chains regularly so you aren’t paying for people who no longer take part in on-call. For specific techniques, refer to Reduce IRM costs.
