Manage settings and accounts in the Grafana mobile app

The Settings tab is where you choose which products appear in the app, manage your account and connected Grafana Cloud stacks, and control how the app notifies you and how it looks. It’s also where the app flags anything that could prevent notifications from reaching you.

Tap Settings in the bottom navigation bar to open it.

Check your account and on-call status

The tile at the top of the Account section shows the name on your Grafana Cloud account, followed by Stack: and the stack you’re using.

Below that, a badge shows your on-call status:

  • On-call now when you’re on call.
  • On-call with a relative time, such as in three hours, when a shift starts within the next day.
  • Not on-call the rest of the time.
  • No internet connection when the app can’t reach Grafana IRM to check.

Tap the tile to open Connected accounts. If your IRM role doesn’t let you read your own user settings, the badge doesn’t appear.

Connect and switch stacks

If you work across multiple Grafana Cloud stacks, connect them all to the app and switch between them without signing in again each time.

To open Connected accounts, do one of the following:

  • Tap your avatar or stack name in the Home screen app bar.
  • Open Settings and tap your account tile.

To connect another stack, tap + in the top right corner and sign in the same way you did for your first stack, either with a stack URL or a QR code.

To switch stacks, tap the stack you want to use. A checkmark marks the stack you’re using. Stacks with an expired session show Login expired. Tap one to sign in again.

You can’t remove a stack from this list directly. To disconnect one, switch to it first and then sign out. Refer to Sign out.

Choose which products you see

The app supports three Grafana products, and you decide which of them are relevant to you. Your choice applies to the stack you’re using, so you can show different products on different stacks.

To change your selection, open Settings and tap Products in the Account section. Turn each product on or off, then tap Done:

  • Grafana IRM shows schedules, alert groups, and incidents.
  • Assistant shows Grafana Assistant chat for AI-assisted investigation guidance.
  • Dashboards shows starred dashboards and panels.

You have to keep at least one product turned on. If you turn all of them off, Done stays unavailable and the app asks you to select at least one product to continue.

Your selection affects the whole app, so keep the following in mind:

  • Turning a product off hides it everywhere in the app, so its Browse entries and Home sections both disappear.
  • The Browse tab only appears when either Grafana IRM or Dashboards is on.
  • Turning off Grafana IRM hides the IRM section of Settings, which is where your notification settings live. Turn Grafana IRM back on if you need to change them.
  • Turning off Assistant removes its tab from the bottom navigation bar.

Note

Turning on a product doesn’t guarantee you see everything it offers. Access to individual resources, such as alert groups, schedules, or incidents, still depends on stack settings and the permissions your organization has granted you. If a section you expect to see is missing from Home or Browse, check with your Grafana Cloud administrator.

Customize your Home screen

You can choose which sections appear on Home and what order they’re in.

In Settings, tap Customize Home in the Account section. The app switches to the Home tab with the editor already open, so you make your changes on the screen itself.

In the editor, press and hold a section, then drag it to move it. Hidden sections sit in their own group below the ones you can see, and you tap Add widgets to bring one back.

Only sections belonging to products you’ve turned on are available here. If there’s nothing to edit, Customize Home appears but you can’t tap it.

Find your notification settings

Your notification settings live in the IRM section of Settings, which appears when Grafana IRM is turned on under Products:

  • Notification rules sets the personal escalation chains that decide how Grafana IRM pages you.
  • Push notifications covers sounds, volume, test notifications, and the Android device permissions check.
  • On iOS, Override DND for important lets important alerts through Do Not Disturb.
  • On Android, Group push notifications collapses multiple alerts into a single notification group with a summary, instead of showing each one separately.

Refer to Configure push notifications for details about each of these.

Notification rules only appears if your IRM role lets you read your own user settings. If it’s missing and you expect to see it, check with your Grafana Cloud administrator.

Understand the warning indicators

The app flags conditions that could stop notifications from reaching you. A dot on the Settings icon in the bottom navigation bar means at least one of them needs your attention.

Open Settings and look for these:

  • A dot on Notification rules means one of your escalation chains is missing its mobile push step, so alerts at that urgency level won’t reach your phone.
  • A dot on Push notifications means a device permission is missing, or you’ve turned on Override system volume without granting the permission it needs.
  • On iOS, a warning at the top of the screen means you’ve turned on Override DND for important but haven’t allowed critical notifications in your device settings. Tap Configure to go straight there.
  • On iOS, a warning about a paired Apple Watch explains how to turn off notification mirroring, which shortens how long an important alert plays. Tap Dismiss to hide it.
  • On iOS, a warning under Sync Grafana IRM contact means the app can’t see the contact it created because you granted limited contacts access.

These warnings only appear when Grafana IRM is turned on under Products. With it turned off, the dot on the Settings icon stays hidden even if something would stop alerts from reaching you, because the settings it points to are hidden too.

Refer to Configure push notifications to clear the notification warnings, or Troubleshoot the Grafana mobile app if notifications still don’t arrive.

Sync your Grafana IRM contact

Sync the known Grafana IRM phone numbers to your device contacts so you can identify IRM calls and, on iOS, let them bypass Do Not Disturb.

  1. In Settings, turn on Sync Grafana IRM contact.
  2. Grant the app access to your contacts when prompted. If you deny access, the app tells you and opens your device settings so you can grant it later.
  3. The app creates a contact named Grafana IRM with all known IRM phone numbers.

The app refreshes the contact each time you reopen it, and again whenever the IRM phone numbers change.

Note

On iOS, if you grant limited contacts access, add the Grafana IRM contact to the list of contacts the app can access, or the sync can’t complete.

Turning the toggle back off stops the app from updating the contact, but it doesn’t remove the contact from your phone. If you no longer want it, delete it in your device’s contacts app.

To configure Do Not Disturb behavior for these numbers, refer to Keep notifications from being silenced by your device.

Change the app’s appearance

Under Settings > Appearance, tap Theme to choose System, Light, or Dark mode. The Theme row shows your current choice. System matches your device’s current display setting and is the default.

View app information

Under Settings > About, tap About Grafana mobile app to open a page that describes what the app does and what the team is working on next. On stacks still using the older branding, this reads About Grafana IRM mobile app. The page also has:

  • Licenses for the open source software the app uses.
  • Legal terms and Privacy policy, which open on grafana.com.
  • An Analytics toggle that controls whether the app collects usage data and performance metrics. It’s on by default.

The app’s version and build number are at the bottom of the page. Include them when you report a problem.

Send feedback and share the app

Under Settings > About, tap Give feedback to us to reach the mobile app team. This opens your device’s email app with a message addressed to mobile-support@grafana.com. If your device can’t open an email app, the app shows the address so you can copy it.

Tap Share link to the app to send someone download links for the App Store and Google Play.

Sign out

Tap Sign out at the bottom of Settings, then confirm. To sign back in later, reconnect with a stack URL or a QR code.

Signing out disconnects only the stack you’re using. Any other stacks you’ve connected stay signed in, and the app switches you to the one you used most recently. To disconnect one of those instead, switch to it from Connected accounts first, then sign out.
