Grafana Assistant on the mobile app
Note
Grafana Assistant on mobile is currently in public preview. Grafana Labs offers limited support, and breaking changes might occur prior to the feature being made generally available.
Grafana Assistant turns the Grafana mobile app into a conversational interface for Grafana Cloud. Ask questions in plain language, investigate issues, explore your telemetry, and act on the results, all from your phone.
Before you begin
The Assistant tab only appears if your organization has Grafana Assistant enabled and Assistant is turned on under Settings > Products. If your organization doesn’t have Assistant, it isn’t listed under Products at all. Refer to Choose which products you see, or to the Grafana Assistant documentation for enablement and pricing details.
Open Assistant
Tap Assistant in the bottom navigation bar to start a conversation.
You can also open Assistant from an alert group or incident detail screen by tapping the Assistant icon in the bottom-right corner. The chat window opens with that alert group’s or incident’s details as context.
Chat on mobile
The Assistant tab loads the same Grafana Assistant experience you use on the web, signed in with your Grafana session, in a layout adapted for your phone’s screen. You can type a question the way you’d describe it to a teammate, for example, asking what a metric means or what changed recently. You don’t need to know which dashboard or query to check first.
From the mobile app, you can also:
- Use suggested prompts or quick actions.
- View citations and source links.
- Open dashboards, panels, alert rules, or other Grafana resources returned by Assistant.
- Submit response feedback.
- View rich content such as tables, code blocks, and charts.
- Start Grafana Assistant investigations.
Conversations carry over between mobile and web, so you can start on your phone and pick up where you left off on your computer, or the other way around. Revisit a past conversation, or start a new one to investigate a separate issue.
Grafana Assistant on mobile enforces your Grafana RBAC permissions, so it only surfaces the dashboards, data sources, and infrastructure data you already have access to. To learn more about the Assistant permission model, refer to Manage Assistant access with RBAC.
