Send Slack messages from Pages
Grafana Pages can send messages to your linked Slack account. Review the workspace, destination, and message before sending, or allow future notifications from a Page without repeated approval. Each message goes to your own direct message with the Grafana Slack app. Messages include a small attribution with the Page’s name: Sent from Grafana Page XYZ.
Connect your Slack account
Connect your workspace and link your personal account using the Slack integration setup. Pages use that existing connection, so you don’t need to add a Slack token or webhook URL to a Page.
Send a message
Ask Assistant to add a Slack message action to your Page. The Page offers it only when Pages Slack notifications are enabled for your instance, your Slack workspace is connected, the integration is enabled, and your personal account is linked. When you use it, Grafana rechecks your connection and opens a review dialog. Review the message and workspace, then click Send to my Slack DM. Click Cancel to close the dialog without sending.
To receive later notifications without reviewing each message, select Always allow for this page before sending. This allows all supported actions from this Page, including HTTP requests that can change external systems, using your accounts and connections without asking again. Permission applies only to your account in this browser while the Page stays open, including when you switch browser tabs. Grafana still checks connection setup and permissions on every action. Refer to Page action permissions for the full scope.
Click Revoke permission beside the Page to require review again. Other Pages and viewers need their own approval. Draft and published Pages have separate permissions. Clearing this browser’s saved data also removes the permission.
If the Slack action isn’t available, complete setup in Assistant > Settings > External connections > Slack. If setup changes after the action appears, Grafana can reject the request before sending. Messages can contain up to 4000 UTF-8 bytes. The Page can’t choose a different recipient or Slack channel.
If Grafana can’t confirm delivery, check your Slack DM before sending again. Closing the Page after sending doesn’t recall the message. Pages don’t retry messages automatically.
The Page must stay open to send notifications. Browsers may throttle background timers, and Page datasource queries pause while the browser tab is hidden. For monitoring that continues after you close Grafana, use an Assistant Watcher with Slack notifications.
