Google Cloud preconfigured dashboards and alerts
Use preconfigured dashboards and alerts to monitor popular Google Cloud services. Dashboards appear automatically in Cloud Provider Observability after you configure GCP metrics. Install the preconfigured alerts you want to use from the app.
Preconfigured dashboards
Preconfigured dashboards provide visualizations for popular Google Cloud services. Dashboards are available for the following services.
This dashboard displays AlloyDB for PostgreSQL performance and resource consumption metrics, including:
- CPU and memory utilization
- Connection counts
- Storage usage
- Transaction and query rates
- Replication lag
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor CPU, memory, and storage utilization for capacity planning
- Track connection and transaction rates to understand workload patterns
- Identify queries that affect performance
- Monitor replication health in high-availability configurations
For detailed metrics information, refer to AlloyDB.
This dashboard provides visibility into Cloud Bigtable performance and capacity, including:
- CPU utilization (average and for the hottest node)
- Storage utilization
- Request count and error rate
- Request latency
- Read and write throughput
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor cluster CPU and storage to plan node capacity
- Track request latency and error rates to detect performance issues
- Identify hot nodes that affect cluster performance
- Analyze read and write throughput patterns
For detailed metrics information, refer to Cloud Bigtable.
This dashboard displays Cloud Run service performance and runtime behavior, including:
- Request count and response codes
- Request latency
- Container instance count and scaling activity
- CPU and memory utilization
- Billable instance time
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor request throughput and latency for your services
- Understand scaling behavior by tracking instance counts over time
- Analyze response code patterns to identify errors
- Track CPU and memory utilization to tune resource limits
- Observe billable instance time to manage costs
For detailed metrics information, refer to Cloud Run.
This dashboard displays Cloud SQL performance and resource consumption metrics, including:
- CPU and memory utilization
- Disk usage and disk I/O
- Active connections
- Query and transaction rates
- Replication lag
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor CPU, memory, and disk utilization for capacity planning
- Track connection and query rates to understand workload patterns
- Detect storage constraints before they impact operations
- Monitor replication health in high-availability configurations
Cloud SQL dashboards also integrate with Database Observability. For more information, refer to Access Database Observability.
For detailed metrics information, refer to Cloud SQL.
This dashboard provides monitoring for Compute Engine instances, including:
- CPU utilization
- Memory usage
- Disk I/O (read and write operations)
- Network traffic (bytes sent and received)
- Instance uptime
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor CPU and memory utilization to identify resource constraints
- Identify high disk I/O that might indicate performance bottlenecks
- Track network traffic patterns and potential network issues
- Plan capacity upgrades based on resource usage trends
For detailed metrics information, refer to Compute Engine.
This dashboard provides Cloud Load Balancing monitoring, including:
- Request count and response codes
- Backend latency and total latency
- Request and response bytes
- Backend health
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor request throughput and latency across backends
- Analyze response code patterns to identify issues
- Track backend health and detect unhealthy instances
- Analyze traffic distribution across backend targets
For detailed metrics information, refer to Load Balancing.
This dashboard displays Pub/Sub messaging metrics, including:
- Published and delivered message counts
- Unacked message backlog
- Oldest unacked message age
- Acknowledgment rates
- Delivery latency
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor message publish and delivery throughput
- Detect growing backlogs that indicate slow or stalled consumers
- Track the age of the oldest unacked message to catch processing delays
- Troubleshoot delivery and acknowledgment failures
For detailed metrics information, refer to Pub/Sub.
This dashboard provides insights into Cloud Storage buckets, including:
- Request count and request latency
- Total bytes stored
- Object count
- Network traffic (sent and received bytes)
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor request throughput and latency
- Track storage capacity and object counts to plan for growth
- Analyze data transfer patterns and optimize costs
- Identify performance issues with high latency
For detailed metrics information, refer to Storage (GCS).
This dashboard displays Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) network metrics derived from VPC Flow Logs, including:
- Bytes and packets sent and received
- Connection counts
- Traffic by source and destination
- Top talkers across the network
Use this dashboard to:
- Monitor network traffic volume across the VPC
- Identify top sources and destinations of traffic
- Detect unexpected traffic patterns that might indicate issues
- Analyze connectivity between resources
For detailed metrics information, refer to VPC networks.
Preconfigured alerts
When you configure GCP metrics, preconfigured alerts are available. The prebuilt alerts cover Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, and Pub/Sub. The descriptions below summarize the condition each alert monitors; open an alert in Cloud Provider Observability to review its details.
| Alert | What it monitors |
|---|---|
GcpCEHighCpuUtilization | High CPU utilization on Compute Engine instances. |
GcpCEHighIOLatency | High input/output latency for Compute Engine storage. |
GcpCloudSQLAbortedConnections | Aborted connection activity for Cloud SQL instances. |
GcpCloudSQLActiveConnections | Active connections to Cloud SQL instances. |
GcpCloudSQLDiskUsage | Disk usage for Cloud SQL instances. |
GcpCloudSQLHighCpu | High CPU utilization on Cloud SQL instances. |
GcpCloudSQLLagSecondsBehindMaster | Replication lag, measured in seconds behind the primary database. |
GcpCloudSQLMemoryUsage | Memory usage on Cloud SQL instances. |
GcpPubSubNumUndeliveredMessages | The number of messages awaiting delivery in Pub/Sub subscriptions. |
GcpPubSubUnackedMessageAge | The age of the oldest unacknowledged message in a Pub/Sub subscription. |
If the preconfigured alerts Cloud Provider offers do not meet your needs, you can configure your own alert rules using Grafana Alerting.
