When you [configure Kubernetes Monitoring](/docs/grafana-cloud/monitor-infrastructure/kubernetes-monitoring/configuration/helm-chart-config/hc-config-steps/#monitoring-type) to gather energy metrics, [Kepler](https://sustainable-computing.io/) exposes and gathers metrics, and Alloy collects these metrics.

Energy metrics are separated into these categories:

- Package, [including CPU cores](https://github.com/sustainable-computing-io/kepler/blob/main/docs/user/metrics.md)
- DRAM (memory)
- GPU
- Other
- Total (the sum of all categories)
