Grafana Cloud

Use Learn mode

Use Learn mode to turn Grafana Assistant into a guided coach. It suggests lessons based on your role, the Grafana products you want to use, and the services or data sources in your environment.

What you’ll achieve

  • Start a personalized learning session.
  • Choose lessons that fit your goals and infrastructure.
  • Work through concepts one step at a time.
  • Apply what you learn to dashboards, queries, and troubleshooting tasks.

Before you begin

Start a lesson

Open the Assistant and switch to Learn. The Assistant starts by asking about your role, the Grafana products or features you want to understand, and the problem you are trying to solve.

Describe your goals

Give enough detail for the Assistant to tailor the lesson to your work.

I’m an SRE. Teach me how to use metrics, logs, and traces to investigate latency for our checkout service.

I’m a platform engineer. Show me a lesson on dashboards and alerting for a new Kubernetes workload.

Choose a lesson

After you describe your goals, the Assistant suggests several lesson options. It uses Assistant memories when they are available. Otherwise, it uses your connected data sources to tailor the lesson to your environment.

Use your environment as context

Mention services, dashboards, or data sources so the lesson stays grounded in your telemetry.

Build a lesson around our checkout service in @prometheus-prod and @loki-prod.

Show me an example using the dashboard I already have open.

Learn step by step

Learn mode teaches one concept or action at a time. It pauses between steps, asks before it creates or changes anything, and checks the result after it runs a tool.

Approve hands-on actions

If the Assistant offers to create a dashboard, run a query, or open a resource, confirm before it continues.

Yes, create that dashboard.

Go ahead and run the query.

Slow down or change direction

You can ask for a simpler explanation, a different example, or a new topic at any point.

Explain that query again in simpler terms.

Switch to an example for logs instead of metrics.

Apply what you learned

At the end of a lesson, the Assistant can help you move from practice to real work. You can ask it to open the relevant dashboards, help you try the same workflow on another service, or give you a short assessment to reinforce the lesson.
