Grafana Cloud

Pricing and usage

Grafana Cloud bills for what you use. Each product has its own unit of measure, and this section explains what that unit is and how it’s counted.

Grafana Cloud pricing is usage based. You pay for the telemetry you send, the products you turn on, and the people who use them. There’s no single meter across the platform. Instead, each product bills against the unit that best reflects how you consume it, such as active series for metrics, gigabytes for logs, and host hours for Application Observability.

This section explains how each product is billed, but it doesn’t list actual rates. To find the current rates, refer to the pricing page.

To see what you’re actually consuming right now, use the Cost Management and Billing app in your Grafana Cloud stack.

Pricing principles

Four ideas explain most of how Grafana Cloud pricing behaves.

You pay for consumption, not capacity. Metering is tied to what you actually send or use during the month. Products billed on host hours meter only while a host is active, so a host that runs for part of the month costs a fraction of one that runs continuously.

Each product meters independently. Turning on Kubernetes Monitoring doesn’t change how your logs are billed. Products that generate telemetry, such as Application Observability, bill for the product and for the telemetry it produces, and those appear as separate line items.

Your plan includes a base amount of usage. Your monthly price covers a set amount of usage for each product. You’re billed for usage beyond that base.

Discounts apply automatically as you grow. On the Grafana Cloud Pro plan, your effective rate drops as your usage for a product increases. Nothing needs to be enabled or renegotiated. For details, refer to Volume discounts.

Contract frameworks

Contracted customers can use any generally available product in Grafana Cloud.

On the Flexible Spend Commit contract type, also called Prepaid Spend Commit, you draw down your existing spend commit against any generally available products at the rates on the pricing page. New products bill against the same commitment, so adopting one doesn’t require a contract amendment.

On other contract types, or once you’ve consumed your entire flexible spend commitment, you use any generally available products at the same rates and pay monthly for non-committed usage.

Note

If you’re on a monthly plan, refer to the pricing page or the Subscription page in your account portal for your pricing details.

If your usage is scaling and you’re ready to commit, a committed contract can offer better unit economics than published rates. Contact us to explore committed pricing.
