# Respond to alert groups in the Grafana IRM mobile app

The Grafana IRM mobile app allows you to manage and respond to alert groups directly from your phone, without needing to get to a laptop. You can view alert details, take action on alerts, and collaborate with team members — all from the mobile app.

From the **Home** screen, you can quickly view your recent alert groups and their current status.

There are several actions you can take on an alert group, including:

- View alert group details, grouped alerts, and event timelines
- Acknowledge, silence, or resolve alert groups
- Invite additional participants and view current participants
- Declare incidents directly from an alert group
- Perform bulk actions on multiple alert groups
- Add resolution notes

## Respond to an alert group

When an alert is escalated to you, you are notified according to your personal notification rules. You must add push notifications to your notification rules in order to be notified via the mobile app.

Regardless of your notification rules, you can still respond to alert groups from the mobile app.

The latest firing alert group escalated to you is shown in **My recent alert groups** on your **Home** screen. You can also view a full list of your alerts by tapping **Browse** in the bottom navigation bar, tapping **Alert groups**, and selecting the **Mine** tab.

If an alert group should be escalated to an incident for more immediate attention, you can [declare an incident directly from an alert group](/docs/grafana-cloud/alerting-and-irm/irm/mobile-app/incident-response/).

### Acknowledge an alert group

Acknowledging an alert group updates the **Ack** count in the **My recent alert groups** stats on the **Home** screen.

There are multiple ways to acknowledge an alert group:

1. From the **Home** screen, tap **Acknowledge** on the firing alert group tile.
2. From **Browse** > **Alert groups**, tap **Acknowledge** on a firing alert group tile.
3. From the alert group details screen, tap **Acknowledge** at the bottom of the screen.
4. From any alert group tile, tap the three-dot **More** icon to open the actions sheet, and tap **Acknowledge**.

### Unacknowledge an alert group

Unacknowledging an alert group returns it to a firing state and restarts the escalation chain from the beginning.

To unacknowledge an alert group:

1. Open the alert group details screen and tap the three-dot **More** icon at the bottom.
2. Tap **Unacknowledge** from the list of actions.

### Silence an alert group

Silencing an alert group stops notifications and further escalation for a specified period of time. After the period has elapsed, the alert group returns to a firing state and restarts notifications.

To silence an alert group:

1. Open the alert group details screen and tap the three-dot **More** icon at the bottom.
2. Tap **Silence** from the list of actions.
3. Select a time period to silence the alert group and tap **Done** to confirm.

To remove the silence, open the actions sheet again and tap **Unsilence**.

### Resolve an alert group

Resolving an alert group indicates that the underlying issue has been addressed. There are multiple ways to resolve an alert group:

1. From the **Home** screen or **Browse** > **Alert groups**, tap **Resolve** on the alert group tile.
2. From the alert group details screen, tap **Resolve** at the bottom of the screen.
3. From any alert group tile, tap the three-dot **More** icon to open the actions sheet, and tap **Resolve**.

If your organization requires resolution notes, you’ll be prompted to add one before the alert group is resolved.

If you need to return an alert to a firing state, tap **Unresolve** at the bottom of the alert group details screen, or open the three-dot actions sheet and tap **Unresolve**.

## Invite additional participants

You can invite other team members to assist with an alert group. To invite additional participants from the Grafana IRM mobile app:

1. Open the alert group and scroll to the **Participants** section under the **Details** tab.
2. Tap **+ Invite**.
3. Select the participant you want to invite.
4. Choose which notification type: **Default** or **Important**.
5. Tap **Invite**.

The invited user is added to the **Participants** section. You can remove participants by tapping their name and selecting **Remove user**.

## Trigger a manual escalation

If you notice an issue that requires support or attention from another team or user, you can manually start an escalation to create a new alert group.

To create a manual escalation:

1. From the **Home** screen, tap the **+** icon in the top right corner.
2. Select **New escalation**.
3. Complete the escalation form, including a brief description.
4. Invite participants by selecting from available teams and users or using the search function.
5. Tap **Confirm** to initiate the escalation and notify participants.

You can remove users or teams from the escalation by tapping their name and selecting **Remove user**.

## Perform bulk actions on alert groups

The Grafana IRM mobile app allows you to perform actions on multiple alert groups to save time when managing large volumes of alerts.

To perform bulk actions:

1. Tap **Browse** in the bottom navigation bar, then tap **Alert groups**.
2. Tap the **selector** icon to enter selection mode, then choose multiple alert groups.
3. From the action bar at the bottom, tap **Acknowledge** or **Resolve**, or tap the three-dot **More** icon for additional actions like **Silence** and **Restart**.
