Grafana Enterprise Logs
Grafana Enterprise Logs (GEL) is a commercial offering based on the open source Loki project. GEL inherits all the features, enhancements, and bug fixes of the Loki project. The enterprise version lets you deploy a highly-scalable, simple, and reliable logging cluster in your own data center.
Warning
Grafana Enterprise Metrics (GEM), Grafana Enterprise Logs (GEL), and Grafana Enterprise Traces (GET) have entered Long-Term Support (LTS):
- GEM LTS version is 2.17.
- GEL LTS version is 3.6.
- GET LTS version is 2.8.
Existing customers will continue to receive support, bug fixes, and security fixes, but no new features, through Feb. 1, 2029, when GEM, GEL, and GET will reach End-of-Life (EOL).
If you have questions, contact your account manager.
GEL features
With GEL, you get access to enterprise features that are not included in Loki:
- Tenant management: Easily scale from one to hundreds of tenants within a single GEL cluster. Each tenant provides an isolated, logical separation of the cluster. Operators have full control over the tenants that are running on their cluster, by either using the built-in API directly or the official GEL plugin.
- Token-based authorization: Create and manage tokens with configurable access parameters to interact with tenant logs.
- OSS Loki compatibility: Seamlessly drop a GEL binary into an existing Loki deployment.
- Label-based access controls (LBAC): Control query access to logs based on label values.
- Cross-tenant query capability: Issue a single query that aggregates results across multiple tenants.

Query with LogQL
Inspired by PromQL, LogQL is Grafana’s query language for logs. LogQL uses labels and operators for filtering.
