After five years leading the development of Cortex, Grafana Labs is no longer contributing to this project. In March 2022, we launched Grafana Mimir, an open source long-term storage for Prometheus that lets you scale to 1 billion metrics and beyond. To learn more, please read the TSDB announcement blog and visit the Grafana Mimir page.

Check out the latest meetup we hosted in Tel Aviv, Israel, together with longtime Grafana users, Taboola!

It has been a little while since we organized a meetup in Tel-Aviv – 2016 to be exact – so we decided it was a fine time to get back to this beautiful city.

Taboola were kind enough to host the Grafana meetup at their wonderful offices in the Atrium tower for an afternoon of metrics, logs, traces, and good times!

As well as getting the chance to meet like-minded folk, we also had some great talks from the Grafana Labs and Taboola team:

  • Tom Wilkie, VP of Product at Grafana Labs, gave a thought-provoking presentation on the similarities and differences between Cortex and Thanos.
  • Michael Lando spoke about Taboola’s journey with metrics and Grafana.
  • Dieter Plaetinck, Principal Software Engineer at Grafana Labs, gave a talk on the development, past and present, of Graphite and Metrictank as well as some exciting previews of Grafana 7.

Attendance was good, questions were aplenty, and the evening was rounded off with food and a keg of Israel’s finest beer, kindly provided by our friends at Taboola.

For those of you who couldn’t make it, please check out the YouTube video, and watch this space for a Grafana meetup in a city near you!
